If you and your fiance have a flair for adventure and hearts full of wanderlust, then eloping might be right up your alley! An adventure elopement is a great way to celebrate your love and make amazing new memories as you embark on this exciting new journey together!

You might be wondering what you can do to make your elopement even more unforgettable. There are so many different activities you might consider when you tie the knot depending on how much of an adrenaline junkie you are! As an elopement photographer, I have plenty of ideas that’ll make for a special day and truly epic portraits. Keep reading to learn five of my favorite activities to make your elopement more adventurous!

1. Say “I Do” During a Hot Air Balloon Ride

Your elopement day will make you feel like you’re on cloud nine, so why not exchange vows while floating above the ground? A hot air balloon can be an exciting and adventurous way to tie the knot!

Even if you celebrate your nuptials by doing a hot air balloon afterward, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the landscape below with this once-in-a-lifetime experience! This can be a great time to take some gorgeous elopement photos that you’ll be able to treasure forever!

2.  Plan an Underwater Photoshoot

Are you going to be spending your elopement and honeymoon near water? If so, this can be a great time to snag an underwater photo session! You can document an exciting chapter of your new lives together, and make new memories together as you dive into the crystal clear waters of a serene lake or tropical ocean together!

An underwater photoshoot is absolutely perfect for couples who will be visiting locations with beautiful turquoise waters. It would be great for couples planning a Hawaii elopement, Bahamas destination wedding, or a Curacao honeymoon, for example. If you invest in one of my land and sea packages, we can also take some breathtaking beach elopement photos while we’re at it!

As an underwater photographer, I might be a little biased. But I believe that an underwater session is a truly unique and ethereal way to capture some unique and ethereal wedding photos as you bask in newlywed bliss!

3. Plan a Hike!

Hiking can be a great adventure elopement activity! If you love the outdoors, hiking to a breathtaking location is a great way to celebrate your wedding — and take some epic elopement photos in the process!

If you’re planning a state or national park elopement, hiking is one adventurous activity you won’t want to miss out on!

As your elopement photographer, I can shoot your ceremony and help you find the best trails for a hike! You can bring a picnic and beverages to celebrate the end of the hike. We’ll pack headlamps for the hike back, because it will get dark.

I recommend starting your elopement with a scenic hike to a stunning viewpoint or secluded spot. We’ll get to capture some breathtaking views, which is perfect for taking in a sunrise or sunset to start or end your day!

Sunrise and sunset are both incredible times for taking national park elopement photos! The lighting is perfect for some extra glowy portraits that you can treasure forever!

4. See Stunning Views With a Helicopter Ride

If you’re planning a national park elopement or a mountain elopement, you might consider adding a helicopter ride to your to-do list! At many national parks, you can take a helicopter ride that will take you to the top of the mountain for some of the most breathtaking views of the park! You’ll never have time to hike everything during your elopement, so it’s best to get the ‘copter so you can see it all!

5. Go Kayaking or Canoeing!

Why not paddle to a remote and picturesque spot on a lake or river to exchange vows surrounded by the calming sounds of nature? Tying the knot in a scenic setting provides endless opportunities for stunning elopement photos! We can capture precious moments of the two of you in the kayak or canoe, on the dock, or exploring the general area.

These are just five ways to make your elopement more adventurous!
